Reportedly, Ecuador's steel longs producer Andec is scheduling to double its current output.
The mill new 220,000 tpy electric arc furnace already started to produce. In June or July, a new billet casting machine will be commissioned.
The mill's output will be almost doubled from 250,000 tpy to 470,000 tpy at that time.
The mill have to buy most of its scrap requirements domestically, but will need to import around 20,000 tons of the raw materials throughout this year, a market dealer indicated.
